What we are looking for
We select applicants based on their current ability, and their potential to develop during the programme. We are seeking students who are open to new ideas, creative risk taking, collaboration and show willingness to work across materials and media. We want to learn about what you have done, but also what motivates you to develop your practice.
- Portfolio with a documentation of a minimum of 6 and maximum of 8 artistic works
In your portfolio you should aim to include a range of work that shows the breadth of your developing skills and interests. Sometimes it can be hard to judge what a “work” is. For some it can be experiments with a technique, for others it can be sketches, a finished object or series of objects. You should make your own judgment, depending upon your practice.
- For each work you should describe the material, size, title, year, and up to 300 characters explaining your intention with the work and any important references.
- Background and experience (maximum 1500 characters)
Briefly list education and work experiences that are relevant for BFA Crafting Futures
- Present (maximum 1000 characters).
Include a photograph that you have taken of an object or built structure that has made an impression on you. This should not be something that you have made yourself. Briefly describe the photograph, why you have chosen it and what intrigues you
- Letter of intent (maximum 3000 characters)
Describe why you are applying to the BFA in Crafting Futures. Describe what you would like to develop in your practice, and where you think it could lead
Submit your portfolio
- Submit your portfolio through SlideRoom. SlideRoom closes at midnight (CET) on the day of the deadline. You will receive a confirmation email from SlideRoom when you have submitted your portfolio.
- You can start your application in SlideRoom at any time during the application period. You can save your progress, log out, and return later to finish.
- We recommend uploading your materials at least 24 hours before the deadline. Please note that portfolios cannot be submitted after the application deadline.
Assessment
Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
- Present work that demonstrates ambition and a willingness to experiment
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn technical skills
- Evidence handling a material or medium with sensitivity to its qualities
- Ability to identify social and cultural influences in your artistic practice
- Ability to communicate your work through image and text
The assessment is made by an admissions jury consisting of the Programme Director and representatives from the department.
Interviews
The highest-ranked applicants will be invited to a digital personal interview. Invitations will be sent to the email address registered with universityadmissions.se/antagning.se
To be considered approved, all criteria must be fulfilled. The assessment is based on the application and the interview.
