Research interests

Helena has broad research interest spanning ESSENCE, child and adolescent health more generally, and the impact of societal factors, such as digitalisation. Since her medical training, she has had a particular interest in aetiology, pathophysiology, and treatment mechanisms, with a focus on neuropsychiatric conditions in which the current knowledge base, to a greater extent than for many somatic diseases, relies on clinical symptom descriptions rather than well-defined biological mechanisms.

She also has a strong interest in research methodology, with a particular focus on quantitative methods and statistical analysis, alongside an interest in qualitative approaches.
