About Eva-Teréz Gölin

I am an artist and teacher in the Master’s and Bachelor’s programs in Photography. My background in professional image editing, book production, and fine art printing forms the foundation of both my artistic practice and my teaching.

As a visual artist, I work with the digital photographic image as a starting point. By challenging central concepts of photography—such as time, place, and indexicality—I seek to question our assumptions about the medium and its boundaries. A central aspect of my practice is the transformation of the immaterial digital information from the online world’s constant flow of images into a physical dimension, where pixels and digital artefacts are given intrinsic value rather than merely serving as carriers of the image.

For a work exhibited at Galleri Duerr in Stockholm in 2025, I developed a digital technique to produce photographic images based solely on their colour. By erasing all variation in the light reflected from the subject—the very foundation of photography—I aimed to take the photographic image to a place beyond itself. In an ongoing project, I am moving in the opposite direction, attempting to approach digital materiality through the manual reproduction of post-photographic, AI-generated images. For this work, I was awarded a six-month Research Residency at IASPIS in Stockholm, granted by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee.
