About Johan Nilsson
I am an interdisciplinary anthropologist interested in issues such as knowledge and representations, and how they interact with economic life.
Research areas: My research has focused on economic aspects of social life, as well as the role of measuring and representing in shaping social situations. Examples of studies I have worked on include how market researchers in Stockholm work to produce material both as useful knowledge and as a viable product, and how a range of actors have taken part in organising the market for influencer marketing in Sweden.
Ongoing research: I work on the research project Serving Responsibility which follows alcohol licensing in Sweden, focusing on issues around rule-following and compliance in restaurants, as well as the work to audit rules adherence in municipal administration.
Teaching: I teach and supervise on bachelor- and advanced level in social anthropology and global studies. I have previous experience teaching and supervising business administration.
