Workshops and study environment on Kristinelundsgatan
On Kristinelundsgatan, workshops, studios and technical equipment support students in Design and Craft. Some facilities are shared across programmes, while others are dedicated studios or individual study spaces. The study environment is supported by experienced technical staff who contribute to artistic processes and the safe, informed use of equipment as part of teaching and production
Textile Art
Textile Art students have access to several workshop areas for textile print, fibre work and colour processes. The facilities support the full printing workflow, with a darkroom for screen preparation, digital printing, mangle and steamer. Large print tables and a range of small and large frames make it possible to develop both unique prints and repeat patterns on fabric or paper.
Jewellery Art
Jewellery Art students have access to several workshop areas with tools and machines adapted for small-scale metalwork. You can work with techniques such as forging, soldering, grinding, enameling, etching, patination and casting. The workshop is popular, but students with specialisation in Jewellery Art have priority.
Ceramic Art
Ceramic Art students have access to facilities for working with ceramics: kilns, glazing rooms, a plaster workshop, potter’s wheels and rolling tables. A range of clays, raw materials and tools supports the full workflow. The workshops are the main workplace for Ceramic Art students. Students from other programmes may apply for short-term access, subject to availability.
3D Lab and model workshop
The 3D Lab and model workshop supports prototyping and model-making across programmes. Facilities include digital fabrication and scanning, with resources such as 3D printers, CNC milling and a laser cutter, alongside tools for shaping and forming materials. The workshop is available to all students at HDK-Valand.
Wood and metal workshop
We have all the equipment for solid woodworking, a paint- and surface treatment room and a machine shop for interior and furniture carpentry. Our metal workshop is fully equipped with the tools you need. Here there are several machines for grinding, milling, bending and welding.
