Geology Field Camp
Summary
Do you want to develop your skills in geological fieldwork and learn to interpret geological data at an advanced level? In this course, you will work with current geological questions and deepen your understanding of geological processes.
About
The course provides in-depth knowledge of the development of the continental crust and regional geology outside the Nordic countries. You will learn to interpret bedrock geology and landscape development based on your own observations and general geological principles.
The course covers topics including rocks, tectonics, stratigraphy, ore-forming processes and natural resources, as well as Quaternary deposits and geomorphology. You will also explore the interactions between geological processes and society, for example in relation to natural hazards and environmental risks.
A significant part of the course consists of a field excursion.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
Admission to the course requires 120 credits within Earth Sciences, specializing in geology, marine geology or physical geography. Of these 120 credits, at least 30 must be courses in geology.
Applicants with equivalent education may be admitted to the course after assessment.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
