No Jumping! The Pragmatics of Philosophical Inquiry

About the seminar

The unfinished manuscript presents a case study that takes an ethnographic approach to the sociology of philosophy, framing philosophical inquiry as an everyday activity. Unlike studies that position themselves within a historical tradition of analyzing philosophy in a macrosocial context, the text demonstrates an alternative way of understanding philosophical discourse in its immediate context. A short, 20-minute presentation will elaborate on the ethnographic stance taken in the project. During the discussion, I particularly welcome contributions from an STS perspective and methodological commentaries related to the study of this hyperreflexive field.
