About Michelle von Ehr
My PhD project focuses on improving fish health and welfare in aquaculture by advancing knowledge of fish skin physiology. To do this, I will study the mechanisms underlying skin barrier function in key species used in Swedish and European aquaculture. This is planned to be achieved by characterizing the location of tight junctions within the stratified epithelia and apply this knowledge to improve our understanding of skin permeability in relation to external environmental changes. In addition, I will look into pathogen translocation across the skin barrier.
