About Julia Norman

Julia Norman is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Work Science. Her academic background is in sociology, with a focus on Science and Technology Studies (STS), environmental sociology, and social movement research, as well as a particular interest in methodological development. She previously worked at Chalmers University of Technology as a research assistant, focusing on just energy transitions.

In her doctoral project, she continues to engage with questions of justice and transition, while shifting her focus toward AI and sustainability. The project examines how sociotechnical imaginaries of AI and sustainability are articulated, shaped, and reproduced through narratives. The project is funded by WASP-HS, and she is part of both the WASP-HS Graduate School (Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program – Humanity and Society) and the local doctoral programme at the department.

Through her research, she is affiliated with IFORCED - the Institute for Research on Climate Change and Disinformation.
