About us

Welcome Services is part of the Service Unit within the University's Central Administration, offering temporary housing to international researchers, doctoral students, and international students.

Welcome Services

We work to ensure that international students and staff have a smooth start to their stay in Sweden. We do this by providing comprehensive information prior to arrival and throughout the stay in Sweden, Gothenburg, and at the University of Gothenburg.

We are responsible for the comprehensive welcome programme for international students at the beginning of each semester, and we also participate in the introduction of international doctoral students, researchers, and staff by holding information sessions and sending out welcome letters and newsletters. Throughout the semester, we organize seminars on various topics, social events, and activities.

On the Staff Portal, there is information aimed at employed international staff once they have received their x-account. There is also information for recruiting institutions, such as application forms for guesthousing and recruitment checklists.

X-account is required to access the information

EURAXESS Centre

EURAXESS - Researchers in Motion is an initiative from the European Commission to improve researchers' opportunities for mobility and career development.

The University of Gothenburg has signed the Declaration of Commitment and is a EURAXESS Centre. This means that it offers information and support to both international researchers and institutions receiving guest researchers and international staff. Representatives from the Research and Innovation Office, the Personnel Department, and Welcome Services are part of the EURAXESS network from the University of Gothenburg.

There are over 600 EURAXESS centres distributed in 43 countries within the European network.
