The SOM student essay award

The SOM award is a national stipend of 8 000 Swedish kronor that is each year presented to the author of the best student essay featuring data from the SOM Institute.

Have you used SOM data in your student essay project?

If so, you have the chance to win the coveted SOM award, a stipend of 8 000 SEK annually given to the author of an essay or degree project of high quality, based on data from the SOM surveys.

How to nominate?

Anyone can make a nomination for the SOM award; supervisors, examinors, students or the essay's author(s). We accept essays from all levels of higher education, many languages such as Swedish, English, French and German, and any research discipline.

To nominate, simply send the nominated essay along with any documentation and contact information necessary to info@som.gu.se

Deadline for nominations is usually in the beginning of July, and the winner is announced in October-November of that same year.
