To be admitted to the doctoral program at Sahlgrenska Academy, it is required that there is an established doctoral student place that is funded. You must also meet the eligibility requirements set out in the general study plan for the doctoral subject in question.

As a doctoral student, you must have a main supervisor and at least one assistant supervisor during your studies.

You can either be accepted as a doctoral student with the University of Gothenburg as your employer, or as a collaborative doctoral student, for example if you get the opportunity to carry out a doctoral project within the framework of your employment.

If you have questions about the research project, contact the main supervisor for the project. Contact details for the supervisor can be found in the advertisement.

What happens to my application?

When the application period has expired, the supervisor reads all applications and reviews the applicants' merits. How long the selection takes varies.

Doctoral employment with an employer other than the University of Gothenburg

To be accepted as a doctoral student with funding from another employer, a doctoral project must first be created. After that, you and your supervisor write a proposal for an individual study plan. General study plan for the postgraduate subject

You need to know the general study plan for your PhD subject before you apply. The study plan describes the purpose of the education, scope, and content, learning objectives, eligibility requirements and other conditions that apply to admission and selection. The content of the education is regulated in the general study plan and in the doctoral student's individual study plan.
