About

Archaeological evidence will be discussed in relation to mythological traditions at selected sites in the Mediterranean area. Students will acquire insight into the archaeological evidence for early settlement and historical development. The mythological traditions that were associated with origins and early history are later in date and are of limited value as source material in archaeological and historical research. They are, however, important because they provide an insight into how people in the ancient world understood their early history. Teaching consists of lectures and a final seminar.
