I am a medical doctor with professional experience primarily in primary care. I defended my thesis in 2021: Physicians' practices in sickness certification for common mental disorders – assessment of work capacity and communication with the patient's workplace. My doctoral project was part of the research program New Ways - mental health at work which aimed to extend the knowledge about how to identify, treat and support people with depression and anxiety disorders to maintain their ability to work and reduce the need for sick leave. My main interest is the physician's role in sickness certification, but my research includes other actors' perspectives as well. In ongoing studies we explore associations between patients' individual characteristics and length of sick leave as well as organizational preconditions for managers' support to employees with common mental disorders. I am assistant course leader for two courses on coordination of sick leave in healthcare (advanced level) and I teach at the Medical Programme.
