Om Tobias Granmo

Education Violin studies at The Royal music Academy, Stockholm Academy of music and drama, Gothenburg, Masterdegree 1995 Universität für Music und darstellend Kunst, Wien, Diploma 1998

Biography Tobias Granmo’s love for the violin has formed his life and already from childhood music has been a natural and essential part- a way of living. Studies in Stockholm, Gothenburg and finally in Vienna for renowned Violin Professors as Milan Vitek, Dora Schwarzberg, Günther Pichler and Ernst Kovacic has inspired him. A great Violin and music tradition to pass on to the next generation. Tobias has also a great interest in contemporary music and together with marimba soloist Daniel Berg they are forming Duo Granmo/Berg, a duo regularly touring through Europe. Two cd- recordings so far and one upcoming in 2019. Tobias is violin teacher but also head of the chamber music at the Academy. Between 2011-2017 he was Director of studies for the classic music department.

Regularly guest teaching at the Music Academies in Vilnius, Riga, Ljubljana, Rome, Naples, San Sebastian, Birmingham, Cork, Zagreb.

“Now I have been teaching at the Academy of music and drama for more than a decade . It´s really a privilege to guide the new generation of violinists and music makers. I am proud to be part of our open minded University which gives possibilities for students to grow and to be part of the Gothenburg classical music scene”.

Teaching philosophy It’s always thrilling to meet new individuals. Every student is unique and demands different approaches. To invite guest teachers to our University is also a fantastic possibility for our students to meet a new perspective!
