How the Oil Industry Changed the Ownership Patterns of Women in Iran: an Archaeology of a Sociopolitical Transformation

Föreläsning

The lecture will basically present the results of one of my latest researches which elucidate the process of women¿s reduction of agency and property rates in Iran within a time span between 1850s to 1940s.

According to the investigation of documents and surveying the villages conducted by my Iranian colleagues and me, it was hypothesized that Iranian women¿s traditional patterns of ownership encountered a deep transformation during the last century and as a result of getting so much poorer, they were more seriously and systematically oppressed. To objectify this reduction, the material evidences and written documents will be presented in this seminar.
