Om Kenneth Boffard
Ken Boffard from South Africa was appointed Visiting Professor at Sahlgrenska Academy in 2016. His career has been dedicated to developing life-saving trauma surgical practice and associated academic study programs, and his work is acknowledged the world over. In
He is Professor Emeritus and Honorary Consultant in the Department of Surgery, University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University), and Director of Trauma at Netcare Milpark Hospital Academic Trauma Centre, a satellite training center for the Department of Surgery at Wits and a Level I Trauma Centre accredited by the Trauma Society of South Africa (TSSA). He is also a former President of the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC).
In 2010 he became the first African President of the International Society of Surgery (ISS), the world’s oldest international surgical organization, and now serves as its Secretary-General.
