Sammanfattning

We wanted to investigatethe potential effect of additional teleroundingsystem on postoperative outcomes, patient and surgeonsatisfaction rates in the patients who underwent percutaneousnephrolithotomy (PNL).Eighty patients who underwent PNL wereincluded in the study. The patients were randomly dividedto two groups. Group 1 included 40 patientswho were followed-up with standard rounds and group 2 included 40 patients who were followed-up with teleroundingin addition to standard rounds. Patient andsurgeon satisfaction rates were assessed with a visualanalog scale (VAS) where 0 point represents very dissatisfiedand 100 points very satisfied.Mean time of preoperative telerounding visitwas 3.65±0.59 (2-4) minutes. Mean time of teleroundingvisits on the postoperative 1st and 2nd days was3.80±0.62 and 2.9±0.91 minutes respectively. TheVAS score evaluating the surgeon's satisfaction rate fortelerounding was 91±11.2 and patients expressed ahigh level of satisfaction with 72.5%.The use of additional telerounding inurological patient care provides high satisfaction ratesfor both the patients and the surgeon. However the findingsof the present study don't underestimate the importanceof personal surgeon-patient interaction.
