Sammanfattning

Curator Marika Szàraz continues the concept of Erny Piret collecting 36 member of the Fiber-Art Group to display their contemporary artworks at a travelling group exhibition at the Deutsches Textilmuseum Krefeld. All artist are working free. What connects them is the work with textile materials and techniques, as well as experimental approaches. Additional Barbara Jansen, artist and textile design researcher presents one of her light emitting installations Colour Collage. The artist origins from Krefeld and has a strong connection to the city’s cultural heritage in textiles. This is the first time the artist is presenting part of her work in her hometown. Colour Collage is an installation based on a light-emitting woven structure. Today she titles her textiles as instruments on which various light compositions can be played. This instrument, titled paper weave_2, bases on the integration of PMMA optical fibres with white Japanese paper yarn woven on an industrial shaft machine. The light composition Colour Collage is a composition in three parts. Thereby each phrase, sequence is followed by a moment of silence, darkness to be then repeated. Each part bases on an inspiration image and creates a different colour atmosphere, in respect to colour tonality as well as movement qualities. The repeating element throughout all three parts is a vivid strong red.
