Sammanfattning

The phenomenographic research method, designed to distinguish and describe variations in perceiving or experiencing phenomena in or aspects of the world around, is acknowledged within the world of research. But what is the value of this approach in the educational practice? The following article examines this issue. Phenomenography constitutes a view of knowledge, research method and qualitative descriptions of peoples' ways of thinking about something. This foundation for the didactic is presented and adapted to educational praxis. Besides, showing how the phenomenographic research method is changed into didactical principles which have been used in work with preschool children this article also discusses the results of some studies. The phenomenographically oriented didactical approach has in these studies been used for developing preschool* children's understanding about certain aspects of their surrounding world, understanding of their own learning and ability to learn a new content.
