Possible new relationships between the Tibetan Plateau and the Asian summer monsoon under global warming
The Tibetan Plateau (TP) exerts significant influences on the earth’s climate, and it is commonly accepted that the thermal effect of the TP is critical to the Asian summer monsoon (ASM) system. Therefore, many studies have been focused on the thermal trends of the TP during the historical period and under future warming scenarios. However, it is doubtful that whether their thermal definition of the TP is scientific. Whether the variables they used and the key areas they defined can truly reflect the contribution of the TP to the ASM remains debatable. Here we are trying to determine a more reasonable definition of the thermal effect of the TP and to search for some interesting new relationships between the TP and the ASM under global warming.
