The Donation Board Scholarships

Scholarships can be applied for by students on first-, second and third level who study subjects within” the Faculty of Philosophy” at the University of Gothenburg.


The deadline for applications is Friday 1 of February 2019

  • Stiftelsen Stipendiefonden Viktor Rydbergs minne
  • Stiftelsen Johan E. Ekmans Minnesfond - scholarships for students pursuing studies in economics.
  • Stiftelsen Charlotta Amalia Nybergs stipendiefond -scholarships for "two less financially well-endowed students at the university who have shown a prominent interest in the arts or literature." The applicants desiring to apply for this scholarship must specify this in their application.
  • Stiftelsen Ada Clases stipendiefond - scholarships for "financially needy, well-behaved male students."
  • Stiftelsen Johannes Paulssons stipendiefond - students of classical philology have priority.

  • Stiftelsen Ludvig och Elin Stavenows stipendiefond
  • Stiftelsen Otto och Anna Platins stipendiefond

  • Stiftelsen Christofer och Tora Myhres stipendiefond - priority is given to students registered at the universities and Karolinska Institute, who are descendents of the siblings of the deceased couple, Christofer Myhre and his wife Tora Myhre, born Eselius.

  • First/second-cycle students can apply for scholarships for studies. The amount of the scholarship is 10 000 SEK. Applicants are ranked according to the number of higher education credits achieved within ”the Faculty of Philosophy” at the University of Gothenburg.
  • Third-cycle student may apply for a scholarship for travel. This may involve travel to attend a conference, a third-cycle course, travel to summer school, field studies or corresponding, such as the collection of materials. The amount of the scholarship is 20 000 SEK. Applicants are ranked to the part of the full degree of doctor completed.


Both categories must actively study at “the Faculty of Philosophy” at the University of Gothenburg during the scholarship year.

Individual students may receive one first/second-cycle scholarship and one third-cycle scholarship, thus a maximum of two scholarships, while studying at the University of Gothenburg.

In addition to these criteria more detailed rules are elaborated by the Grants Committee of the Philosophical Faculties for selection of Scholars:

Applications are made in the University's application system. 


Your application is complete when:

1. the application has the status Submitted in the application system
2. the application has been confirmed with BankID (or printed out, signed, and sent by regular mail)

Third cycle students should report the costs covered by the travel scholarship on a specific form. The report shall be sent in as soon as possible after returning home after the travel.

NB! Students on first- or second level who are awarded a Scholarship for studies shall not send in a report.



If, for some reason, you are unable to use your scholarship for the stated purpose, it is possible to reallocate the fund through The Grants Committee of the Philosophical Faculties. Send an e-mail to the Donation Board ( Write the application number (DS2019-xxxx) in the e-mail. The e-mail must also contain the following information about the new destination: country+city, date, purpose and a cost specification. A scholarship can only be reallocated once.


NB! Students on first- or second level who are awarded a Scholarship for studies can not apply for reallocation.
