Since the mid-90s, neuroscience has produced a number of prominent studies concerned with brains of transgender persons. For the social scientist, it is relevant to ask questions about the social implications of such research, and to understand the knowledge production as a social process. My doctoral dissertation project interrogates the “transgender brain” from a perspective where other social worlds than the neuroscientific are taken into account. The poster presented at the conference speaks to an interdisciplinary audience, and introduces the research project, its current theoretical/methodological approach, and some preliminary results.
