This chapter is written in the context of Beijing+25 and Agenda2030. The anthology as a whole focus on empowering future generations of women. I argue that expanding and securing freedom of speech and freedom of expression for both women and men is a key issue for democracy and sustainable development. Media plays an important role when societies advance gender equality and could speed up change so that everyone can live their rights. Media needs to be part of the equation, both in terms of presence, voice and use. "Freedom of speech and gender equality are interconnected and you cannot have one without the other in a sustainable world. Maybe we do not need to create new policies, much is gained if we just follow and monitor the commitment to CEDAW and the Beijing Platform for Action so that we can expand freedom of expression to include women. "
