Abstract

This presentation highlighted future challenges for the field of verbal lie detection. For example, the fact that interrogators always have multiple objectives (whereas researchers seem to think they have one; to detect deceit) and that a police interrogator's veracity assessment of a suspect's statement is of no evidentiary value (whereas researchers seem to view this as an endpoint).
