Abstract

The chapter reviews the available evidence on the diagnostic value of consistency to predict truth telling and of inconsistency to predict lying. We cover four different types of consistency, (a) within-statement consistency, (b) between-statement consistency, (c) within-group consistency, and (d) statement-evidence consistency.
