Abstract

Preschool has a unique starting point and a strong foundation in both the individual child and the collective, with the group of children in focus. Being with peers is important in a child's world. This paper focus on the change in theories and methods regarding early childhood education. New paradigm encounters traditional ways of children’s learning. From a perspective that focus on the individual child as a passive consumer who would be given knowledge – to a perspective where children develops into independent individuals who are active constructors - and together with peers and teachers, create knowledge.
