About Daniel Olsson

Dr. Daniel S. Olsson, MSc, MD, PhD is a Professor (Adj) in Endocrinology at The Institution of Medicine, University of Gothenburg, Sweden and a Consultant in Internal Medicine.

He graduated from medical school at University of Gothenburg in 2010 and he completed a Research Internship at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in 2012. During 2013, he was the Head of Studies for Interns at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He defended his thesis in 2014, which was entitled “Non-functioning pituitary tumours – mortality, morbidity and tumour progression”. Between 2019 and 2021, he was the Assistant Head of PhD Studies at The Institution of Medicine at University of Gothenburg and oversaw the PhD students with clinical projects. He became a consultant in Internal Medicine when he completed a Research Residency at the Department of Endocrinology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in 2020. Since 2021 he is a Global Development Medical Director at Late CVRM R&D, AstraZeneca. He became a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Medicine in 2022 and in 2023 he was appointed Professor (Adj) in Endocrinology by the same institute. His research interests include clinical studies on mortality/morbidity in patients with pituitary tumours and translational studies aiming to find biomarkers of aggressiveness in pituitary tumours. A large part of his research has also been conducted in the field of growth hormone excess and deficiency.

Dr. Daniel S. Olsson is a member of numerous professional societies and has severed in many committees, for example has been a member of The Programme Organising Committee for The European Congress of Endocrinology 2019, member of the Community of Practice Workgroup at The Endocrine Society 2018-2022, member of the Global Leadership Academy 2019 and member of the Early Career Members Taskforce at the European Society of Endocrinology 2020-2022. He is currently serving as a member of Research Affairs Core Committee at The Endocrine Society and a member of The Swedish Pituitary Group.
