About Johan Bengtsson-Palme

I am doing research in microbiology and microbial ecology, with a particular focus om antibiotic resistance in environmental bacterial communities. To investigate this, we use bioinformatics and metagenomics, i.e. large-scale sequencing of total DNA from all bacteria in a sample.

I have previously been working with toxicological questions, primarilty in marine bacterial communities, using the same methodology as we now use to investigate antibiotic resistance. I also have an interest in microbial taxonomy and development of methods for better taxonomic classification based on sequence data. Visit my web site http://microbiology.se for more information!
