Areas of interest
The nexus of my research interests are African women and the impact of politics and political processes on them in society. With gender as an intersectional concept I have researched on the effects of colonial and later state’s policy on women's human rights.

Current research
Three currently running research themes: on the effects of post-colonial state policies on gender relationships in rural, especially on issues of women's access to land and utilization of labour in the rural borders regions of the Republics of Nigeria and of Niger. The second research is about the domestication of the Child Rights Convention in African and Nigerian laws and practices. The third area is the importance of personal experiences and histories in the integration politics and political processes focusing on Somali women in Sweden.

Teaching and tutoring
Main teaching areas are in early and contemporary African History, gender theories and practices, and in human rights. Supervision of Masters degree and undergraduate projects.
