About Emma Forsgren

Present employment

From July -13 conducting full time doctoral studies at the Department of Speech and Language Pathology at the Sahlgrenska Academy.
Have previously been working clinically with adults with communication- and/or swallowing difficulties following brain damage at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Angered Hospital. Have for the last two years been working as an assistant researcher at the Department of Speech and Language Pathology at the Sahlgrenska Academy in a research project about communicative interaction in neurogenic communication disorders.

Research interest

The aim of the PhD project Person-centered care in association with communication disorders is to study conversational interaction between people with communication disorders and health professionals with an exploratory and descriptive method. The project also includes investigating methods for implementation and evaluation of person-centered care for people with communication disorders.

The research project is linked to University of Gothenburg Centre for person-centered care (GPCC). To enable person-centered care for persons with communication disabilities caregivers needs to have adequate knowledge and skills in the use of strategies to support communication.
