About Harshida Patel

Harshida Patel, Associate Professor, RN. Inst. Of Health Care & Science at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. She holds her specialization in Nursing science and currently working as a senior lecturer. She is spec nurse and has more than 30 years of clinical experience working in Cardiac care. She is also engaged in the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing orgnaization as President for Tau Omega chapter.

Research Harshida´s area of research is heart failure, including elderly with chronic heart failure but also young mothers, who suffer from heart failure associated with pregnancy and childbirth (Peripartum Cardiomyopathy) and Migrants health.

Teaching Her teaching has a width extending across several areas. Nursing in general and specifically at heart disease and the elderly, health economics, evidence based care, IPL – simulation (nursing and physician students in last semester), Power and humanrights seminar in multidisciplinary groups, National Clinical Examinations, contact teacher for the clinical follow-up of the students, supervision and examination of thesis, course director for the Geriatrics and Internal medicine and Scientific methods at advanced and basic level. She is also responsible for internationalisation in the advanced level education and Clinical placement.

Clinical activity Harshida has a long experience in clinical practice, both in General medicine, Geriatrics, and since 1989, in Cardiac Care, both in- and outpatient care. She has also worked as a research nurse with various projects at AstraZeneca, Roche and Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
