About Maitri Dore

Maitri Dore is a PhD candidate at the Department of Conservation. Her work is part of HERILAND: Cultural Heritage and the Planning of European Landscapes, a project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. In her research, she studies how heritage is approached and managed in major development projects in India and Sweden. One of her case studies is the West Link project in Gothenburg.

Maitri holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA), Mumbai and a master’s degree in urban studies through the Erasmus Mundus+ 4Cities programme. Her master’s thesis focused on nation-building through architecture in postcolonial and post-socialist contexts, with specific reference to Budapest.

In the past Maitri has also worked in architectural practice – designing sustainable homes in Bangalore, and on research related to affordable housing in Mumbai. Most recently she assisted on an exhibition and book Critical Care: Architecture and Urbanism for a Broken Planet at the architecture museum in Vienna.
