Engström teaches and examines at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels and has been the programme director for the Specialist Nursing Education in Surgical Care since 2018. Together with Sofia Almerud Österberg, she has been the editor since 2024 of the book: Health and Illness in Student Literature's book series: The Fundamentals of Nursing.

Clinical Practice

Engström is a Registered Nurse with specialist training in surgical care with more than 20 years of experience working at the Sahlgrenska surgery department. She has primarily been active in surgical emergency care, where she also works clinically. For many years, she worked as a research nurse and research coordinator at the surgery ward. Since 2019, she works 20% as a project manager for R&D Director Caterina Finizia and is responsible for and runs several projects in the R&D unit's management team.
