OPEN POSITIONS Postdoctor in Software Engineering for Secure Automotive Systems

The department of Computer Science and Engineering is strongly international, with approximately 270 employees from over 30 countries. The department is a fully integrated department with the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology as principals. The position is placed in the Division for Software Engineering at the department, with the University of Gothenburg as the employer.

Job assignments

The successful candidate will work in the context of the Swedish Project "Cyber Resilience for Vehicles" (CyReV) funded by VINNOVA and under the supervision of Riccardo Scandariato (http://scandariato.org).

The project is positioned in the domain of connected and autonomy road vehicles. The project focusses on understanding the root cause of an ongoing cyber-attack, e.g., in order to identify the software components that have been breached and/or compromised. As such, the project requires the development of techniques to monitor the security posture of software components at run-time.

The primary job assignment is to independently plan, conduct and report research studies and to transfer research results to the industrial partners in the project, including Volvo and Volvo Cars.

Eligibility

The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

An achieved doctoral degree is compulsory for a position as postdoctor at the University of Gothenburg. The doctoral thesis shall be in a relevant area according to the specific position stated in the advertisement, for example in Computer Science, Security, or Software Engineering. Since a position as postdoctor aims to give new holders of the doctorate the opportunity mainly to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency, we aim for those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application.

Preference will be given to candidates with a strong research background in the field of (i) cybersecurity & forensics, (ii) run-time software analysis, and (iii) automotive.

Assessment

Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 – 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

In addition, the applicant must have a documented track record of research published at international scientific conferences and in international scientific journals. The publications should be relevant to the subject area. Fluency in English in written and spoken form as well as excellent communication skills are required. Maturity, motivation, and the ability to both work independently and within a team are expected.
