Joint Centres of Expertise and Research

A few examples of joint centres of expertise and research between Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg:

Centre for Skin Research Gothenburg is a cross-disciplinary research centre where focus is to understand molecular processes when the skin is exposed to drugs, chemicals, nano particles and radiation.

Gothenburg Centre for Advanced studies in Science and Technology aims to stimulate interactions between scientists from different fields but with an interest in fundamental issues.

CIP is a joint center between University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University with the mission to drive and facilitate a shift to a knowledge-based economy.

The Centre for Environment and Sustainability, GMV, creates and encourages research projects and multidisciplinary initiatives. Co-operation with the business community in western Sweden as well as the provision of information and education to the general public are part of GMV's brief.

Gothenburg Atmospheric Science Centre is a centre for activities in atmospheric science in the Gothenburg region. The Centre is organised by GMV.

Lighthouse is a multidisciplinary maritime competence and research centre, which is based on a triple helix cooperation between industry, academy and public sector.

MedTech West is a network and collaborative platform for research, education, development and evaluation of new biomedical concepts and technologies. Focus is on addressing actual clinical needs in collaboration with relevant clinical staff.

Mistra Urban Futures is an international centre for sustainable urban development. The purpose of the centre is to contribute towards making a real difference to the environment and to people's lives in the cities of the world.

Northern Lead supports logistics research and development by connecting academics, companies, authorities and other organisations.

• At Software Center, companies and universities work together to accelerate the adoption of novel approaches to software engineering. Partners are Ericsson AB, Saab AB, Volvo Group, Volvo Cars, Chalmers, University of Gothenburg, Axis Communication AB, Grundfos, Jeppesen, Malmö University and Linköping University.

URBSEC’s objective is to produce knowledge that supports innovations and solutions which contribute to counter, reduce, and manage risks, threats, insecurities and vulnerabilities in ways that build a resilient socially inclusive society.

Visual Arena Research strengthens, gathers and develops research and teaching in the new research area visualization. A joint centre between Chalmers, University of Gothenburg, and Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
