Shared Departments

Shared departments between two universities make synergy effects, leads to larger broadness in research and increased critical mass.
The University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology have two shared and fully integrated departments, which means that they conduct research and education at both universities.

Mathematical Sciences
Computer Science and Engineering

The two departments have shared classes. This means that students from both universities study together and that they can write their examinations and degree projects together. The teachers are employed by either Chalmers or the University of Gothenburg, which means that teachers from Chalmers educate students from the University of Gothenburg and vice versa.

The two departments have research groups that are either shared or from one university alone. The shared departments are doing well, and have been able to attract a number of international researchers.
