Nordic Centre India

The Nordic Centre in India (NCI) is a consortium of 22 leading Nordic universities and institutions with research and education interests in Indian and Southeast Asia. NCI was established in 2001 with the objective of facilitating cooperation in research and higher education between the Nordic countries and India. Through academic exchange NCI seeks to strengthen Indo-Nordic ties and understanding.

Nordic Centre India offers targeted courses to Nordic university students both as short summer programs and semester stays. The courses are taught in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai.

The Nordic Centre in India's secretariat is now located at the University of Eastern Finland's Kuopio campus, and there is a liaison office in Delhi offering assistance to researchers, students wanting to arrange meetings, organise lectures, seminars and conferences, follow-up on research applications and establish contacts with Indian universities and government offices.

Scholars and representatives from member universities can also stay at the Director's residence in Delhi for both shorter and longer periods of stay. The residence has become a popular meeting place for Nordic researchers.
