How to pay your tuition

The tuition fee instalment must be paid each semester for full admission. Each instalment covers the tuition fee for one semester of study. The tuition fee should be paid via bank transfer or by card payment and the amount is specified in the Notification of Selection Results.

First payment

After you have received the Notification of Selection Results, payment instructions will be sent from the tuition fee team at the University of Gothenburg to the email address listed in your user account at universityadmissions.se. This email includes information about how to make payments. Please note that it will not be possible to identify payments made prior to receipt of this email.

To secure your admission offer, the tuition fee payment must have been made before the payment deadline. If the payment is not made before the deadline, you will lose your place in the programme or course to which you have been conditionally admitted.

Payments for subsequent semesters

The tuition fee instalment for each semester must be paid to continue your studies within your study programme. The tuition fee for subsequent semesters must be paid one semester at a time and cannot be split into smaller instalments.

The tuition fee team at the University of Gothenburg will issue payment instructions by email, where the specific payment deadlines will be stated.

Payment deadline

The tuition fee payment must have been made before the payment deadline. If you need to apply for a payment extension, you need to contact the tuition fee team well in advance of the deadline.

Please note that it is not possible to pay the fee before you have received payment instructions from the tuition fee team at the University of Gothenburg. Payments made before receiving the email will not be possible to identify. The last date for payment of the tuition fee for each semester is:

  • Autumn semester: 1 June
  • Spring semester: 15 December

For newly admitted students who begin their studies during the spring semester, the last day of payment is mid-January.

Payment instructions

The amount of the tuition fee instalment is specified in the Notification of Selection Results and in the documents listed below. The tuition fee should be paid via bank transfer or by card payment.

Use your personal identity number (personnummer) as reference for identification purposes. It will not be possible to identify your payment if your personal identity number is not stated as reference. Your personal identity number (e.g., 19xxxxxx-xxxx) will be specified on the Notification of Selection Results

Payments by card

It is also possible to pay your tuition fee by card. The allowed cards are Visa and MasterCard. If you wish to make the payment via card, please visit PENGU.

Please note that the tuition fee amount applicable to you depends on your year of entry.  The first instalment is listed on each programme page. Use our programme search to find the right amount for 2022.
