Modern Guru Movements

The last decades have seen a number of gurus establish transnational
movements with networks of followers in large parts of the world. The
global approach many of these spiritual leaders take on brings
interesting questions concerning the tension between tradition and
innovation within religious movements. Larger perspectives in the form
of globalization processes will be discussed alongside case studies of
individual movements.
