Marine Sciences: Applied Project (Internship)
About
This project course (Internship), is open to international (English speaking) students. During the internship, the student will, under supervision, perform a scientifically structured experimental or theoretical work in the field of marine sciences. The work is presented and assessed in the form of a written report.
As a student, you have the responsibility to search and find a project/work by contacting a researcher/supervisor. Choice of project assignment, as well as start and stop dates, are decided in a discussion with the researcher/supervisor.
If you are interested in doing an internship in one of the research groups at the Department of Marine Sciences, University of Gothenburg, you need to take the following steps:
- Apply for this course and send documents proving your eligibility (Documents needed). Do not forget to submit upper secondary (high school) studies.
- Communicate directly with a researcher to decide which project you
may be able to attend. You find more information about the different
research areas on: Research at the Department of Marine Sciences. - Inform the student counsellors about your project to get information on further steps needed to be registered.
Prerequisites and selection
Requirements
University studies of a minimum of 75 credits in the field of natural sciences, including at least 15 credits progressive specialization within the project field. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.
Facilities
The Gothenburg region offers proximity to a wide range of marine environments and our facilities include the two research stations Kristineberg Center and Tjärnö Marine Laboratory, and also the state-of-the-art research vessel Skagerak.
