Introduction to Japanese Linguistics

This course focuses on basic structural features of the Japanese language, in order to facilitate students' learning in Japanese language courses and/or the teaching of Japanese as 2nd language. A brief survey of the nature of language (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics) and other related areas such as pragmatics, lexicon, and writing system will be discussed. The course is divided into two parts: lectures that correspond to 6 credits and the individual report that corresponds to 1.5 credits. Those who take this course as part of JP1300 can choose to take only the first 6 credits.

JP1200, Japanese, Intermediate Course, 30 credits, or similar.
