Short description

Many people appreciate having summer homes in the countryside and this project concerns the interplay with the environment; summer homes with historical and esthetical values. The analysis reflect individual memories and ideals of different generations. The project started with a case study and expanded with a network of researchers, archivists and curators from different universities, archives and museums in the north of Europe with research interest in summer homes and boats during 1950-2015. They have made different case studies in Sweden, Denmark and Finland with ethnological, art historical, ethnogeographical perspectives. The scholars from Germany have given attention to reasons for German people to visit Sweden in summertime. The results was published 2016 in an anthology with special emphasize on memories, dreams and aesthetics.
