The University Is Recruiting a New Vice-Chancellor

Published

Pam Fredman has served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gothenburg since 1 July 2006. Her current term expires 30 June 2017 and a new Vice-Chancellor will therefore need to be appointed. The post will be advertised in newspapers and via other channels in August and September.

A new Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed for a term of up to six years through a decision by the national government, following a recommendation by the University Board.

Staff and students at the University of Gothenburg have the opportunity to nominate candidates for the post of Vice-Chancellor. Each submitted nomination must specify what makes the respective nominee suitable for the post; it must also confirm that the nominee has been informed about and accepted the nomination.

It is also possible to report an interest in the post to the recruitment company Source.

The recruitment of a new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gothenburg is headed by Cecilia Schelin Seidegård, chair of the University Board.

A recommendation for the post will be submitted to the government in January 2017. Before the Board submits its recommendation, the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance provides that it must consult the staff and students at the University in the manner determined by the Board.
