The university has reported a personal data breach to the Swedish Data Protection Authority

Published

Due to the operational disruption to its e-mail system, the University of Gothenburg has made a report concerning a personal data breach to the Swedish Data Protection Authority.

Since Friday 18th September, the University of Gothenburg has had an ongoing operational disruption that affects approximately half of all of the university's e-mail addresses.

Due to this, the university reported a personal data breach to the Data Protection Authority on the 23rd September, which the university is obliged to do under GDPR regulations.

A report was made as the problem with the e-mail system creates issues of accessibility, which affects both employees and students, as well as the general public.

This lack of accessibility has, among other things, led to difficulties for the university performing its public duties. Its ability to handle requests from the public to access public documents has also been limited.

If you have any questions about the report, please contact the university's data protection officer via e-mail: dataskydd@gu.se (which is a working e-mail address).
