Award to outstanding Quaternary geologist

Mark Johnson, Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Quaternary Geology at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg, has been awarded the Geological Society's Hjulström Prize in the field of sedimentology.

Mark Johnson has long studied and researched sedimentology, geomorphology and the formation of glacial deposits and glacial history, as well as present-day glacial processes.  His study areas include Wisconsin and Colorado in North America, Iceland, and southern and southwestern Scandinavia.

Over the years, he has contributed with many important scientific publications describing and discussing sedimentological sequences with different origins.

The award ceremony will take place during the 150 years anniversary meeting in Uppsala 17-19 of August 2022.
