Covid-19 scholarship for fee-paying students is launched once again

Published

The University of Gothenburg offers a new scholarship round for "The Covid-19 Financial Aid Scholarship" for fee-paying students, during the spring semester 2021. This was decided by the Vice-Chancellor on 28 January.

In June 2020 the University introduced "The Covid-19 Financial Aid Scholarship", intended as a one-time initiative for fee-paying students who studied at the University of Gothenburg during the spring semester 2020 and continued their studies in autumn.

The scholarship of SEK 15,000 has been developed as a financial support to the fee-paying students who, due to Covid-19, have gotten into financial difficulties. It is a group that in many cases is dependent on extra work and lacks access to the Swedish social insurance system.

Just as we reasoned back in June, we see that fee-paying degree students still have a strained situation, says Vice-Chancellor Eva Wiberg. We care about our international students and hope this can make their situation a little easier.

The scholarship is aimed at fee-paying students who studied during the autumn of 2020 and will continue their studies during the spring semester 2021. Students who receive the entire fee covered by other scholarships are not eligible. The University estimates that between 250-300 students will apply. The deadline for applying for the scholarship is 15 February 2021. Eligible students will receive an email with application instructions on Monday 1 February.
