HDK-Valand in Gothenburg

Our premises are located in the middle of central Gothenburg divided into two addresses: Kristinelundsgatan and Vasagatan. The two buildings are within a very short walking distance of each other and as a student you are welcome in both buildings. The study environment is characterized by international perspectives, well-equipped workshops, and proximity to other art forms.

At HDK-Valand we strive to provide as complete an environment as possible, but we also collaborate with other departments within the university and external actors. The operations at HDK-Valand are closely connected with the city's cultural life, which involves collaborations with, for example, Gothenburg Art Gallery, Hasselblad Center, Röhsska Museum, Röda Sten Art Gallery, Gothenburg International Art Biennale, Göteborgs Litteraturhus and several other artistic initiatives.

The premises on Kristinelundsgatan and Vasagatan contain, in addition to teaching premises, studio spaces, a large number of well-equipped workshops and two student-run galleries: Galleri Monitor and Galleri Rotor2.

On Kristinelundsgatan there are nine well-equipped workshops for image processing, metal, wood, ceramics, jewelery and textiles, and on Vasagatan there are 15 well-equipped workshops with techniques and equipment for, among other things, film, sound, and photography.
