Hans Joas will contribute with a talk on the basis of a chapter on Durkheim in his recent book on the study of religion and disenchantment, The Power of the Sacred (English translation in 2021). Kerstin Jacobsson will focus on the relation between processes of sacralisation and social movements by relating to her numerous publications both in Swedish and English (of which the latest will appear in The Oxford Handbook of Émile Durkheim, edited by Hans Joas and Andreas Pettenkofer). Their talks will be followed by a discussion. Texts will be distributed before the seminar.
