Who are we?

The Linguistic Forum is an informal meeting place for all linguists working at the Faculty of Humanities in Gothenburg. We are a new faculty-wide seminar series sponsored by the faculty. Our goal is to promote knowledge exchange and cooperation between the linguists at the faculty. This open event will be our kick-off activity.

Program kick-off

We are inviting representatives from the three departments at the faculty with linguistic research. They will give a short presentation of their research areas, seminar series and research projects within the field of linguistics. As such, we hope to show the breadth of the linguistic research conducted at the faculty and discover the commonalities between different research perspectives.

Future plans

Our future plans include both activities showcasing the linguistic research conducting at our faculty and inviting external guests. We are interested to hear your suggestions for future activities and guests that address a broad linguistic audience.

Background

There is a lot of linguistic research going on at the faculty, both by the doctoral students and university teachers and within externally financed research projects. The linguists working at the faculty are however spread out across different departments which hinders an efficient exchange of knowledge. Each department has one or several linguistic seminar series which primarily attract an internal audience. Our goal is to offer an informal meeting place for all linguists working at the faculty in order to stimulate knowledge exchange and cooperation.
